The method, in the open

We don't convince you.
We show you.

This page exists because curation is only worth something if you can check it. Here are the criteria we use, what we have already rejected and the reason for each rejection, so you can judge for yourself.

The sieve in numbers

Where the products come from

Real numbers, updated as the curation moves. None invented.

The math is no accident: most of the work is discarding. A product only reaches the store after surviving every step, and it still depends on a supplier with a US warehouse, a readable return policy and a price that leaves room to honor returns.

The criteria

What passes and what fails

The same questions for every product, no exception and no exception for "trending" products.

✓ Passes

  • Consistent rating in high volume. A good rating with 20 reviews says nothing. With thousands, it does.
  • Complaints about a bad unit. If the problem is the piece that came defective, a supplier change fixes it.
  • The product delivers what it promises. In the reviews, buyers confirm the main benefit.
  • US compliance in place where it applies: CPSC for pet and children's items, FCC for electronics, a Prop 65 note for California.
  • Supplier with a US warehouse and a return policy we can read.
  • It makes commercial sense. There has to be room for a fair price without working at a loss.

× Fails on the spot

  • Complaints about a bad product. When the defect is the product itself, no supplier fixes it.
  • Ratings that swing across the category. If it goes from 3.4 to 4.8, buying is a lottery, and we don't sell lotteries.
  • Electronics or kids' items without the compliance we can prove. We don't put in your home what we can't show is certified.
  • Supplier with no US stock or no return policy. Their problem would become your problem.
  • A market owned by a big, cheap brand. If we can't offer anything better, we don't pretend we can.
  • A margin that can't sustain after-sales. Too cheap a product means we couldn't honor returns and support.

What's inside a Tavrov Report

Every product we sell gets an open report. Including the part stores hide.

The prosWhat buyers praise most, in buyers' words.
The consYes, we write the defects of what we are about to sell. It is the most important field.
What we could not confirmWhen we can't verify something, we say we can't.
Real sizeA 3D model at real scale, so it doesn't arrive the wrong size.
Price referenceWhat it costs elsewhere, so you can check ours is fair.
SafetyUS compliance status when the product requires it.

Almost no store shows this, and knowing what not to buy saves as much as knowing what to buy.

Why Tavrov exists

We got tired of buying a pig in a poke.

A lot of what goes viral disappoints, and you only find out after the money is gone. Tavrov was born to flip that: we investigate deeply (we cross-check real buyer reviews, the seller and the safety side) and only sell what we would take home ourselves. No catch, and the proof in each product's report. That simple.
